The ornamental form with lines and colors that is used in a product giving a new and original visual must be protected by registering the creation at the INPI - Industrial Property National Institute. This protection can be concede for example to a new pen design as well as to a new car or car acessory design. The protection of the industrial design can not be confused with the protection conceded by the patent system. In the industrial design case the protection is conceded only for the ornamental form of the product and in the patent system the protection is conceded for all the essence and use of the product or process. The patent protection is biger because the intellectual activity and the society benefits with the patent are biger than the intellectual activity and the society benefits with the creation of a new industrial design. However, the author or the company with the legal rights of the industrial design registered at the INPI have the exclusive right to use this design and the right to obstruct any company or person to use the same or similar industrial design.

The documents and informations needed to elaborate and file a industrial design application in Brazil are:

	Name and complete qualification of the author or authors of the industrial design;
	Name and complete qualification of the applicant;
	Author Document of transfering industrial design rights to the applicant (in case of the company be the owner of the rights of the industrial design developed by a employee or by somebody else);
	Complete discription of the industrial design with designs that can be capable to show all the aspects of the produt that will be protect (Including color photographies);
	Power of Attorney (Provided by our company).
